Taxiwatan — Ride Booking Platform

A ride-booking platform on the same mobility core, oriented toward mass transit: routes, stations, schedules and bookings alongside individual rides — with operating zones, surge pricing, wallets and incentives.

  • Our role Platform development, the mass-transit module, and the driver and rider APIs

Overview

Ride booking with a fully Arabic interface: pricing and taxes, multi‑language and multi‑currency, notification and message templates, and a plugin system that extends the app without touching its core.

01The challenge

Mass transit works on different logic from an individual ride: there is a route with stations, schedules and capacity, and a booking is a seat on a scheduled trip rather than a car arriving now. Building that on a core designed for individual rides, without distorting it, is the core challenge.

02What we built

Mass transit was built as its own module with its own entities — routes, stations, route-stations, schedules and bookings — coexisting with individual rides rather than sharing their model. The platform offers both services without either imposing its constraints on the other.

The rest of the core stays shared: operating zones, surge pricing, wallets, commissions and incentives, driver documents and rules — with the twenty-two payment and messaging modules enabled per market.

03The outcome

The platform serves two transport patterns in one app: a rider books a seat on a scheduled route or requests an immediate ride, and a driver works both with the same wallet and incentives.
